Its an amazing company i highly recommend
Hello, I want a jump rope to jump with outside in the winter when it's below zero. I'm an advanced jumper and I like heavier ropes. Please recommend the right rope for me. I currently use a PVC heavyweight jump rope but it already gets stiff in the cold weather.
Thanks in advance,
Meelis
I would say our heavy beaded rope! Won't stiffen up and has some weight on it! https://elitejumps.co/collections/heavy-jump-ropes/products/heavy-beaded-jump-rope
Should I get a beaded rope for skipping step singles and general fitness? Why beaded vs. wire?
If you are just looking for general fitness jumping, the beaded rope works great!! BUT, Here is some information that may be ALOT more helpful when deciding or when your ready to advance.
Both beaded and wire jump ropes are valuable tools for jump rope training, but serve different purposes. By considering your skill level, fitness objectives, and preference for feedback or speed, you can choose the best type of jump rope to maximize your workouts and enjoy a fulfilling jumping experience.
Choosing between the two
Beginners: Start with a beaded jump rope to focus on building rhythm, coordination, and technique.
Intermediate/Advanced: If speed and double unders are your priority, transition to a wire (speed) rope once your technique is solid.
Tricks/Freestyle: Beaded ropes are generally preferred for learning and executing jump rope tricks due to their enhanced flexibility.
Workout Intensity: Beaded ropes offer a more intense workout due to increased wind resistance, while wire ropes focus on speed and volume.
Durability: If you plan on jumping frequently on abrasive surfaces, a beaded rope will likely be more durable than a wire rope.
Here is a Break down of Beaded vs wire
Beaded jump ropes
Ideal for beginners: The added weight of the beads provides tactile and auditory feedback ("tick tick" sound), making it easier for beginners to develop a consistent rhythm and coordination.
Durable: Beaded ropes are generally more durable than wire ropes, especially when used on rough surfaces like concrete or asphalt, as the beads protect the inner cord from wear and tear.
Good for tricks and freestyle: The flexibility of beaded ropes, due to the segmented beads, makes them easier to manipulate for learning tricks and executing freestyle movements compared to the stiffness of wire ropes.
Effective for HIIT and anaerobic workouts: The increased air resistance caused by the beads demands more effort, making them suitable for high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and improving anaerobic fitness.
Easy to adjust: Beaded ropes can be easily shortened by removing beads and retying the knot, allowing for quick adjustments to suit different heights.
Wire jump ropes (speed ropes)
Excellent for speed and double unders: Wire ropes are lighter and thinner, encountering less air resistance, making them ideal for high-speed jumping and mastering double unders, which require rapid rotations.
Challenges aerobic system: Their design facilitates quick, smooth rotations, making them great for continuous jumping and improving cardiovascular fitness.
Suitable for advanced jumpers: Wire ropes are best suited for individuals who have already developed a solid jump rope technique and are looking to increase their speed and efficiency
