How to Use Jump Rope in Your Next Workout

If you're stuck in a rut with your workout program or don't like running as a cardio option, you should consider picking up a jump rope. But where do you start? We asked Kaylee and Nick Woodard, with Learnin' the Ropes, to share their top three recommendations for incorporating jump rope into your next workout.

The first suggestion is to add jump rope into bodyweight interval training as a portion of the workout. You can jump rope for 20-30 seconds, do push ups or squats for 20-30 seconds and then repeat for 8-10 minutes total.

The most dynamic way to incorporate jump rope into training is to start learning jump rope tricks. There are an infinite number and you'd be surprised how many calories you are able to burn simply learning tricks as stumble through new skills. Before you know it, you'll be impressing your friends with your jump rope wizardry and increasing your cardio capacity at the same time!

Lastly, consider jumping to music and staying with the beat. We have curated some great playlists with different BPMs (beats per minute) to jump to based on the style of jumping or intensity of workout you're after.

If you need a rope to get started, we'd suggest picking up one of our signature Do Hard Things™ - 1" Beaded Ropes or the Muay Thai for more intensity.
